(chemical formula:C6H5CO2Na) is the sodium salt of benzoic acid. Sodium benzoate is an acid preservative with good antiseptic effect in an acidic environment. It is a commonly used food preservative.     Description

    A white crystalline grain or powder. It is widely used for food preservative produced by reaction from sodium hydroxide with benzoic acid. Sodium Benzoate is a better molds and yeasts inhibitor and since acidity foods grow bacteria, mold and yeast quickly, it is cheapest way to preserve them.
    Sodium benzoate takes the forms of small white granules, sprinkles, or powder. It has no smell or has a bit of sweet benzoic flavor and is stable in air and soluble in water.

    1. Mainly used as food preservatives, also used in the preparation of drugs, dyes, etc.
