Sodium benzoate, an acid preservative
Description
A white crystalline grain or powder. It is widely used for food preservative produced by reaction from sodium hydroxide with benzoic acid. Sodium Benzoate is a better molds and yeasts inhibitor and since acidity foods grow bacteria, mold and yeast quickly, it is cheapest way to preserve them.
Sodium benzoate takes the forms of small white granules, sprinkles, or powder. It has no smell or has a bit of sweet benzoic flavor and is stable in air and soluble in water.

Application
1. Mainly used as food preservatives, also used in the preparation of drugs, dyes, etc.
2. Used in pharmaceutical industry and plant genetic research, also used as dye intermediates, fungicides and preservatives
3. Preservatives; Antimicrobials.
4. Sodium benzoate is also an important acid-type food preservative. Converts to the effective form benzoic acid on use. Please refer to benzoic acid for usage range and usage amount. In addition, it can also be used as a preservative for feed.
